This week I would like to talk about appreciation and the things I am grateful for. As most people know it is a tough industry to try and break into and can be cold. Sometimes you feel that maybe what you’re wanting is impossible. Someone might make you second guess yourself and for that moment you let doubt slip in and stand right next to you. Oh boy, have I been feeling that lately especially as I have resigned from my long term job. I will say the thing that has been keeping the fire alive inside me is …..FEEDBACK.
I couldn’t express more how grateful I am for the honest feedback I have received during this journey. I once listened to a motivational tape and it said “You are your environment! When you’re down or when you’re feeling incredibly unstoppable, you have to ask yourself? Who the people around you are at that time of those feelings? People come into your life for a reason or for a season”
Everyone has their down days, you question yourself; Am I on the right path? Am I taking calculating risks? It is a long road but doubt is a dream killer and you must put it to bed before it wrecks your future. I have questioned myself recently about the decisions I have been making as it doesn’t just affect me when I received this letter.
To Ashlee Wynters
I recently read your book Moore than a Pretty Face.
Let me just say Wow! It was interesting, captivating and full of surprises. The writing made me feel as though I was walking in Ella’s footsteps but one step behind. The book took me on a journey of understanding not judging a woman who in the essence had an affair. The words leapt off the page in a way that appeared very simplistic, but created intrigue and wanting more, to know what was going to happen next. There were some chapters with explicit writing that made my heart race and fear creep in. It reminded me of a book I once read by Paulina Simmons called 11 hours.
I loved, what I would call the surprise last few chapters where all the characters came to life or should I say were revealed. There were so many twists and discoveries at times I had to put the book down to catch my breath, absorb the story and contain my excitement or at times anxiety.
This book is special, it has many hidden messages and was a delight to read, albeit that I took so long.
When you read a book and know the author, although just a little, you wonder how someone can put such words together and create a piece of literature that is way more than just a story.
Well done and congratulations!
Best of luck in the future and never stop writing, you have a gift.
Love
T.D
Firstly I would like to thank T.D for taking the time out of her day to write me this beautiful letter of feedback. I am so grateful to hear that people are connecting to the story and the characters like I did, it is a dream come true to hear those words.
Then is confirms it, I am on the right path, I do as well believe so strongly that I do have something special unlike what is currently available out there. In life we do get gentle reminders to let us know that it is okay to feel like this, be patient you are on the right path but unless it’s one like this sitting right in front of your face we seem to miss them.
Life is an opportunity and I am not going to miss this one. My message today is not to let doubt take a hold of your life and your future and also have trust and faith in the unknown. Surround yourself with people that make you feel good and make you want to be your best version of yourself and by doing so you give back and make them feel as if nothing is impossible, as there is nothing unachievable if you truly believe in it. I have so much appreciation for the people around me who help me believe, who guide me, give me their constant words of wisdom. The key to happiness is to grow and to give and I want to do both. Thank you my family and friends for your constant support.
I love you all xx.
